Keys of Change
Keys of Change is a charity formed by individuals of different backgrounds who deeply believe that playing music can make this world a better place. It was established in 2011 with the aim of advancing the lives of children and young people around the world through musical education and access to live classical music performances.
Orpheus Sinfonia are working with Keys of Change to encourage and support the Fukushima Youth Sinfonietta – a dynamic group of young Japanese musicians, who have spontaneously come together in the wake of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami disaster to express their courage and hope through musical performances.
This spring marks the Sinfonietta’s debut in London, with performances at Kings Place and the Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall. Orpheus Sinfonia support The Fukushima Youth Sinfonietta offering mentoring, rehearsing and playing alongside these wonderfully talented and dedicated young musicians at Queen Elizabeth Hall.
From The Fukushima Youth Sinfonietta:
“The assistance of people around me has helped me to overcome the difficult times of the last three years since the earthquake. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to participate in such a special concert. I would like the power of our music to give some strength and courage to the audience” Mao Obara, Viola
From Orpheus Sinfonia:
I am truly delighted that Orpheus has been able to develop and encompass such a valuable project as this, it is very much in our ethos to use our skills to help others in this unique way, that we give back what we can” Rosemary Taylor, Assistant Artistic Director and Principal Clarinet
Orpheus Sinfonia is particularly grateful for the support of White & Case LLP and Mitsui Fudosan (UK)
Opera Danube is dedicated to all things Operetta, bringing high quality, vibrant productions of sparkling works in the Viennese tradition to central London, assembling casts brimming with talent from the next generation of performers.
Opera Danube’s aim to provide emerging artists with a performance platform in London, in order to showcase their talents and secure future engagement opportunities and representation is an exact match to us here at Orpheus Sinfonia. We are delighted to offer full orchestral support so we may continue to present high quality opera and operetta to wide ranging audience.
