A new face joins our masters’ favourites

Our concert on 24 January welcomes back Tamsin Waley-Cohen, a favourite among our audiences and someone who has played concertos with Orpheus for many many years! It is wonderful to welcome Tamsin back to play the much loved Tchaikovsky Concerto. Those of you who attended our Musician of the Year Competition will remember that Tamsin was on the panel and will have heard Ben Baker play a wonderful account of the first movement in October. Now come and enjoy the whole piece! We also look forward to hearing the winner of our Composer of the Year Competition and to performing the winner's composition.

This is a whole new departure for Orpheus and we eagerly await the discovery of a new talented composer. After the interval, enjoy one of the most famous pieces ever written – the Pastoral Symphony by Beethoven. Beethoven loved nature and frequently went on many long walks in the woods near Vienna. From the first movement's "Awakening of cheerful feelings upon arrival in the country" up until the last movement's "Shepherds' song; cheerful and thankful feelings after the storm", this piece is a true masterpiece and not to be missed!
